Weber State had two teams attend the annual regional programming contest; they were the Weber Purple Screen of Death, and Don't Underestimate My Brain. At our local contest site (University of Utah), one of Weber State's teams placed 1st (the Weber Purple Screen of Death). Both teams had a great time.
Unfortunately, 9 teams placed ahead of us in the region, 7 Canadian teams and 2 from the U of Arizona. But we did beat all teams from the U of U, Utah State, Neumont U., UVU, and Dixie State. BYU registered 2 teams but they were no-shows.
The members of the winning team were: Austin Poulter, Brody Smith, and Ben Burnett.
Be sure to congratulate them on their personal accomplishment and for bringing state bragging rights to our school and department.
Weber's second team (Don't Understimate My Brain) included: David Landes, Danny Barker, and Scott Hastings.
We had a great turnout at the programming contest, a huge thank you goes out to everyone who participated. Good job for those of you who competed.
The winners of the contest were as follows: In team competition, the team of Brody Smith, Austin Poulter, and Lisa Thompson came in first with four problems competed. David Landes, Brian Sneddon, and Alicia Windsor came in second.
In individual competition, Ken Romney came in first with three problems, followed by Scott Hastings, and Danny Barker.
Congratulations to the winners! We wish our team luck at the regional competition as well.
We'd also like to give a shout-out to Costa Vida, Little Caesar's, Carl's Jr, Taco Time, Chili's, and the members of our faculty who provided prizes, judging and support. Thank you!

Beginning this semester, the ACM is welcoming Shantell Bryant as our new chapter chair person. She has some great ideas to make this semester successful for the ACM, so look forward to hearing new announcements about activities for this semester.
We are also currently looking for a new Treasurer for the Weber State chapter. Being an ACM officer provides great experience and looks good on a résumé as well. If you're interested in joining our ranks, let us know!
